Your DVD collection usually deteriorates with use. DVD Shrink is a great option for you to make copies of your disks, remove subtitles and dubbed language you do not use and make edits, cutting pieces of inserting video and others that are stored on your hard drive.
You can still make a full copy, the whole structure of the DVD to the hard drive, and burn an ISO image for you to use later with a burning software. Also, you can compress the movie to fit on media smaller spaces, like a normal CD, for example. There are two basic ways to use DVD Shrink: Full Disc and Re-author. Here's how to use each one.
Copying a disc or parts thereof
With the button "Full Disc" active, click the "Open Disc". A window will open showing all the records of all optical drives installed on your PC. Choose the one you want to extract and click "OK".
DVD Shrink is a preliminary analysis of the DVD and then shows its structure. Note that there will be a green bar below the button bar. This bar shows the size occupied by the DVD after extraction. As you make changes, the size may be reduced. The bar is very helpful for you to know that the media you want to record the result has enough space.
In the left part of the program, you will see two tables. What's on the DVD shows the data in the form of folder structure. Below is a miniDVD player so you can preview the videos and find out exactly what is being changed.
The right side of the interface changes depending on the selected folder. The first item ("Video") allows you to select options for compression of images from your disk. The higher the compression, less space is taken up after copying and lower the video quality. Below is the "Audio". All options of the DVD are listed for you to choose which will be inserted or removed. In "Subpicture" you keep or remove subtitles.
After making all changes, click "Backup!" to be open saving options. In this step you define the output format and where you want it to be recorded. Finally, click "OK" to run DVD Shrink task.

With the Re-author tool, you can edit the disc, cutting whole scenes from the movie and inserting your own videos in the middle, to give your touch to the film. This tool is very useful for creating and publishing custom videos on YouTube, for example (because YouTube is now widescreen and supports high resolutions).
You'll notice that by clicking the "Re-author", the interface changes slightly. On the left side of the window are only pieces of the DVD that you select. On the right is the DVD structure. On the "Compression Settings" you change the same options that change in "Full Disc" tab and "DVD Browser" lets you browse the DVD structure, or even inside folders on your hard disk to insert other videos to your creation.
Simply drag the videos from the right frame for the left frame, you insert them to the project. Then click the right mouse button over the item you added and select "Set Star / End frames".
A window will open for you to set points in time when the video will be cut. When finished, click "OK" and then "Backup" to display the save options, which are the same mode "Full Disc".
